How to fold an origami swimsuit

The sides fold in as two panels. Two little snips free the top of the back layer, then folds behind make the V neck, the thin straps, the armholes and the high-cut legs.

You need: 1 square sheet, any size, scissors and a white pen. Medium, 7 steps, about 6 minutes.

Steps

  1. Sides to the middle. Start white side up. Fold the left and right edges in to meet in the middle. These two panels are the front of the swimsuit.
  2. Two little snips. Snip down each side fold, 3.5 cm from the top. This frees the top of the back layer between the panels.
  3. Fold the back layer down. Fold the freed strip of the back layer behind, level with the ends of the snips. Leave the two front panels standing up.
  4. V neck. Fold the top inner corner of each panel behind on a slant, from a little way along the top edge down to the middle. A V neck opens up.
  5. Armholes. Fold the two top outer corners behind on a slant, from the top edge down the side. A thin strap stays up on each side of the neck.
  6. Hem behind. Fold the bottom fifth behind, so the swimsuit is not too long.
  7. Leg openings. Fold the two bottom corners behind on long slants, from the hip on each side down to near the middle. The legs are cut high.

Splash!

Dot it all over with a white pen for a spotty pattern, or draw stripes or flowers. Fold a pair of shorts too for a beach day.
