How to fold an origami tadpole

Fold a diamond into a long, slim point and crimp it so the tail kinks as it wiggles. A small square with its corners folded behind makes the round head.

You need: 1 square sheet (15 cm) and 1 small square (8 cm), dark brown on one side, glue and a white pen. Medium, 7 steps, about 8 minutes.

Steps

  1. Tail: kite. Coloured side up, turned like a diamond, fold the two lower edges behind to meet along the middle.
  2. Tail: slim it. Fold the new lower edges behind to the middle again, so the bottom point is long and slim.
  3. Wiggle: fold up. Fold the lower half of the tail up on a level line.
  4. Wiggle: fold down. Fold it back down on a line just above, tilted a little, so the tail kinks to the side.
  5. Head: new sheet. Set the tail aside. Take the small square, coloured side up.
  6. Head: round it. Fold all four corners behind, about 2 cm, so the head is round.
  7. Glue on the tail. Glue the wide top end of the tail behind the head, so the slim wiggly tail trails below it.

Off it swims!

Draw two white eyes with dark dots near the top of the head.
