How to fold an origami easy spyglass
Fold a square in half and taper it into a long tube, then two little pleats step it into the sections of a pull-out spyglass.
You need: 1 square sheet, brown or gold on one side. Easy, 8 steps, about 4 minutes.
Steps
- Fold in half. Coloured side up, fold the bottom half up behind the top half.
- Taper the top. Fold the top edge behind on a slant, so the band is thin at the left and fatter at the right.
- Taper the bottom. Fold the bottom edge behind on a slant the same way, to make a long tapered tube.
- Square the end. Fold the fat right end behind a little, so it is straight.
- Step behind. Fold the left end behind along a line a bit in from the end.
- Step out. Behind, fold it back out along a line a little to the right, so a thinner section sticks out.
- Second step behind. Do the same a little right of the middle.
- Second step out. Behind, fold it back out again along a line a little to the right.
Land ahoy!
Draw a dark ring at each step and one at the big end. Hold it up to your eye and look for treasure.
