How to fold an origami trophy

Fold a gold diamond into a deep cup, bend a long gold strip into two handles behind it and stand it on a brown foot. A star marks the champion.

You need: A 15 cm gold square, a 3 x 29 cm gold strip (cut from the long side of A4), a 7.5 cm brown square and a glue stick. Medium, 10 steps, about 12 minutes.

Steps

  1. Handles: fold in half. Start with the handles: the long gold strip, white side up, lying across. Fold it in half lengthwise, so it is gold on both sides.
  2. Handles: ends down. Fold each end straight down on a slant, about 8 cm from the middle.
  3. Handles: ends back in. About 4 cm lower, fold each end in towards the middle on a slant, making two square loops.
  4. Foot: new sheet. Set the handles aside. Take the brown square, white side up.
  5. Foot: fold in half. Fold the top edge down to the bottom edge.
  6. Foot: flare it. Fold the two top corners behind on a slant, from near the middle of the top down the sides. The foot flares out at the bottom.
  7. Cup: new sheet. Set the foot aside. Take the gold square, gold side up, turned like a diamond.
  8. Cup: top behind. Fold the top corner behind, about a third of the way down. This is the rim.
  9. Cup: sides behind. Fold the left and right corners behind so the sides of the cup stand up straight. The bottom point is the stem.
  10. Glue it together. Glue the handles behind the top of the cup, their loops sticking out at the sides. Glue the foot over the cup's stem point.

And the winner is...

Draw a big white star on the cup and write a name on the foot. Hand it to the best helper of the week.
