How to fold an origami wasp
Fold a yellow kite for the stripy body with a stinger point, a small black thorax and a pale strip bent into wings. The two body points meet in a thin waist.
You need: 1 yellow square, a black square half its size, a pale strip 1.5 cm wide, a glue stick, a black pen and a white gel pen. Medium, 10 steps, about 12 minutes.
Steps
- Body: kite. Start white side up, like a diamond. Fold the two lower edges in to meet on the middle line.
- Body: turn over. Turn it over. The short point at the top is the waist, the long one the stinger.
- Body: slim it. Fold the left and right corners behind, so the body is plump but not too wide.
- Wings: pale strip. Set the body aside. Take the pale strip, lying across.
- Wings: fold in half. Fold it in half the long way.
- Wings: round the tips. Fold the four corners at the ends a little behind.
- Wings: bend. Fold the left half down on a slanted crease through the middle, so the two wings make a wide V.
- Thorax: black square. Set the wings aside. Take the black square, black side up, like a diamond.
- Thorax: shape it. Fold the side corners and the top corner behind. Keep the bottom point sharp for the waist.
- Glue it together. Glue the wings behind the thorax, then the body below, its top point just under the thorax's point.
Bzzz, keep away!
Draw thick black stripes across the body and colour the stinger. Give the head white eyes and two feelers.
