How to fold an origami wrench
Fold a strip into a thin bar. Fold short crossbars out and back at both ends and turn their tips into open jaws, then tilt it like a spanner lying on the bench.
You need: 1 silver strip, 30 x 4 cm (cut from the long side of an A4 sheet). Medium, 8 steps, about 10 minutes.
Steps
- Fold in half. White side up, fold the top edge down onto the bottom edge.
- In half again. Fold the bottom edge up onto the top edge: a long, thin silver bar.
- First crossbar. About 6 cm from the left end, fold the rest of the bar back to the left, on top.
- Up the handle. Halfway along the crossbar, fold the bar straight up with a 45-degree fold: the handle.
- Second crossbar. About 12 cm up, fold the end out to the left with a 45-degree fold.
- Back across. About 3 cm along, fold the end back to the right, so the top crossbar matches the bottom one.
- Open the jaws. Fold both ends of the top crossbar straight up and both ends of the bottom one straight down: two open jaws.
- Tilt it. Turn the wrench so it lies on a slant, ready to grab a nut.
Tighten up!
Your wrench is ready for the toolbox. Draw a small size number on the handle if you like.
